Barnegat
Friends Meetinghouse
Barnegat, Ocean County

The
unusual meetinghouse is in the Quaker tradition, although the
L-shape of it today represents a later addition which is certainly
atypical.
The Barnegat Friends were organized in 1767, and
services have apparently been held continuously since that date on this site.
This building represents a rebuilding of the structure that was badly damaged
in a hurricane. It is located on East Bay Avenue and Bordsall Street.
