First Presbyterian Church
Blairstown, Warren County
This
is an exceptionally large church of its kind, built in 1870-71 of stucco
over limestone. The architect was Charles Graham, of Trenton,
who also designed the Presbyterian church in Newton,
the Simpson
Methodist Church in Perth Amboy, and the Baptist church in Stockton.
The congregation was organized in 1839.
Sometimes I have to settle for a photograph
of the back of the church because of light, foliage or lack of room
to shoot in front. In this case, the architectural elements here are
much more interesting than anything on the other side.
