Burlington Friends
Burlington, Burlington County

Until 18__, this meetinghouse alternated with the one in Philadelphia
as the site of the Friends annual meeting. It was erected in 1784; the
congregation was organized in 1682, about the time the town was founded.
It sits in the very center of town, although it is setback behind a
brick wall, and so today seems less of a force than it did 200 years
ago. A substantial addition has been erected at the rear, and I suspect
the porch is not original. There is an old burial grounds behind the
building.
