Forked
River
Methodist Episcopal Church
Forked River, Ocean County

The
Forked River Methodist church was organized in 1884, and this modest
wooden-frame building was erected in 1887. It is a traditional building,
with the steep pitch to the roof and the Gothic windows indicating
a late nineteenth century design. Salter's History of Ocean County
asserts that the congregation held services well in the church well
before it was completed.
