Davis
Memorial / Wesley
Methodist Episcopal Church
Harrison, Hudson County

The Wesley
Methodist Episcopal congregation was organized in 1854, and erected
this large red brick church in 1875. It is similar in its Romanesque
details to the Methodist church in Madison (Morris County). I
have no information on the Davis it memorializes, but the Wesley
schism from the Methodist church was over the issue of slavery
and church governance.
