[Bethel Spanish Pentecostal Church]
Lakewood, Ocean County

Across the street from the Presbyterian church at the center of Lakewood
sits this interesting building now used by both the Assembly of God
and the Bethel Spanish Pentecostal congregation. I have not been able
to find out anything about its origins. It appears to have been built
in the 1880s, and from its size, by a well-funded congregation. My guess
is that it was a Baptist church, as Baptists have built somewhat similar
buildings elsewhere in the state, most notably in Trenton.
