Mauricetown Methodist
Episcopal Church
Mauricetown, Cumberland County

This substantial frame church, erected in 1880, looks to be in exceptional
condition. The congregation was organized about 1837.
By the 1860s or so congregations were putting the
main auditorium/sanctuary on the second floor and using the ground floor for
Sunday School and other meetings, and this building follows that plan. There
is a Gothic "feel" to the church although it is basically a vernacular meetinghouse
in its essential style.
