First
Baptist Church
Trenton, Mercer County

Although
a Baptist preacher had visited the area regularly since 1787, the
first
Baptist congregation in Trenton was not formally organized until 1805.
It was the 30th Baptist congregation organized in the state. This
building
was erected at Centre Street and Bridge in 1859. It once had an elaborate
belfry and very tall spire.
