West Creek Methodist Episcopal Church
West Creek, Ocean County

This is an interesting
building in that its decorative elements borrow from several traditions.
It is a Wren-Gibbs plan with Gothic
and Romanesque
details. It sits a block or two off Route 9 (at Thomas Avenue
and Church Street), so the casual traveler is not likely to encounter
it. The congregation was
organized
very
early—in 1778, and the church was erected in 1868.
